Congress Venue

Map of Congress Facilities

  • Gothic residence hallNorth Campus Residence Halls: The North Campus residence halls are colored in RED at the top of the attached map. The indicated buildings include the traditional residence halls, the new residence halls, and the apartments.
  • Robert Purcell Community Center, indicated in ORANGE, contains the initial check-in desk, the cafeteria where breakfast and dinner will be served, a room for previewing PowerPoint presentations on the conference laptops in the evening, and the meeting rooms for the society executives and journal editors.
  • North Campus Tent: Two tents, a large and a small one (colored PURPLE on the map) Mews Hall courtyardwill be erected in a grassy area close to the residence halls. The tents will be the venue for the social mixers and cash bars. The ISBE soccer tournament will take place on four half fields close to this tent. The tennis courts and Helen Newman Gym indicated on the map will be available for use by conference participants, including the pool and fitness center in Newman Gym (a small fee may be required).
  • Bailey Hall: This recently renovated giant auditorium is the venue for all Plenary and the Hamilton talks. It is located near the center of the map and colored GREEN. It takes about 10-12 minutes to walk (over the gorge and its waterfall) between Bailey Hall and the North Campus dorms. Parking on campus is very limited, so we hope most participants will walk between these sites.
  • Barton Hall: This enormous facility (colored MAUVE on the map) Barton Hallwill house all of our coffee/tea breaks, all lunches, the exhibitor hall, the poster hall, and the congress banquet. It is about a 7-8 minute walk south of Bailey Hall and is surrounded by the lecture halls hosting the shorter talk sessions.
  • Shorter Talk Sessions: The six auditoriums to be used for submitted talks are colored YELLOW on the map: two are located in the Statler Hotel complex, one is in Uris Hall, one in the ILR/IVES complex, and one just across the street in Malott Hall.
  • Statler Hotel: This is colored TURQUOISE on the map. Plenary speakers will likely stay here. The Statler also has a bar that will be open to congress participants from approximately 4 pm to midnight throughout the meeting.
