Due to a huge number of travel grant applications, award announcements will be delayed until Friday May 23.
ISBE is offering partial travel support to worthy candidates in order to facilitate attending the congress. Priority for funding will be given to those who:
(1) are planning to give a presentation (oral or poster) at the meeting;
(2) are early-career researchers or senior Ph.D. students; or
(3) have limited or no access to institutional or external funding that can be used to attend the meeting.
We particularly encourage potential participants from developing countries to apply. We expect awards to average $1500 with the exact amount varying according to origin and need. Recipients must be members of the ISBE and must have registered for the congress.
To apply for a travel award, please prepare an application document with the following components:
(1) a cover letter;
(2) a 1-2 page curriculum vita; please be sure to include your email address, a mailing address, and the starting and (expected) completion dates for your Ph.D.
(3) the abstract of the work you plan on submitting for consideration to the ISBE program (including title and coauthors); and
(4) a proposed budget, including any additional sources of travel support available.
Upload (1) - (4) as a single document below. To avoid problems, please use either .pdf or .doc formats.
(5) Finally, have two letters of reference sent separately via email to Dr. Walter D. Koenig, Hastings Reservation, 38601 E. Carmel Valley Road, Carmel Valley, CA 93924 (email: koenigwd@berkeley.edu).
Applications should be received by 15 April 2008. We will notify successful applicants by 15 May 2008. Note: registration refunds (minus a processing fee) are available until July 1, 2008.
