Congress Venue

Campus Meeting Areas

Bailey Hall, Cornell UniversityThe lectures, concurrent oral presentation sessions, and poster sessions will take place in a set of adjacent buildings on campus. With such a large congress (1000 to 1100 anticipated delegates), finding close buildings with sufficiently large lecture theaters is a challenge. Plenary lectures will take place in the newly renovated Bailey Hall, which is a 10-minute walk across Cascadilla Creek from the North Campus dorm area.

Barton HallAfter the morning plenary talks, we will shift slightly to the area around Barton Hall, a huge gym and formerly an airline hangar, where posters will be displayed and coffee breaks and lunches served. The six concurrent sessions will be held in the Statler Auditorium, Statler Ballroom, Uris Auditorium, ILR Auditorium, and Malott Hall’s Bache Auditorium.

Walking time between these buildings ranges from 1 to 3 minutes. The walk from Barton to North Campus is about 20 minutes. A map of this area of campus is provided for your reference.

The Town of Ithaca

Taughannock FallsIthaca is located at the southern tip of Cayuga Lake, one of a series of long and deep north-south oriented lakes gouged by retreating glaciers. This area is called the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. Much of the mixed hardwood forest remains and is interspersed with farmland. Water run-off into the lakes from the surrounding area has created creeks, deep gorges, and many spectacular waterfalls. Ithaca is therefore a favorite summer vacation spot. You can obtain more information from the VisitIthaca website.

We have several excursions planned for the mid-week break (see Excursions webpage). Information will be provided on the location and bus routes to other interesting sites you can visit on your own.
